Video analytics features
IRIS+™ is offered in three main feature packages:
- IRIS+ Essential - Everything you need for a top-of-the-line security system using our most common algorithms. IRIS+ Essential will perform excellently indoors and outdoors, in bad weather and equally bad lighting conditions. If you as a human can make out that the person in the video is a human so can IRIS+. Every second of every day, without ever getting tired.
- IRIS+ Analyst - The full forensic search package with everything needed for video investigation and statistics. Please note that real-time alarming and rules are not included in this package.
- IRIS+ Enterprise - All real-time analytics algorithms and features plus the full investigation and statistics modules in one package. IRIS+ Enterprise combines Essential and Analyst and also gives you our most advanced algorithms including Smoke and Fire and Anomaly detection.

The automatic calibration functionality is part of the IRIS+ strategy to be able to deploy advanced video analytics with minimal configuration - "plug & play".
The functionality will automatically, by classifying people and vehicles in the view, correctly determine the correct pixels per meter metric for every pixel of the camera image. This, in turn, leads to very accurate classifications and alarming, as well as very low false alarm rates.
For the few cases where there is no movement to feed the automatic calibration, the user can provide a manual calibration.
✔Essential ✔Enterprise
Detects objects moving, loitering in specified zones The IRIS+™ moving in an area rule triggers alarms when an object is detected moving in the rule zone.
Crossing a line
Detects objects crossing a virtual fence in a set direction The IRIS+™ Crossing a line rule triggers alarms when a virtual fence or line is crossed. It supports crossing in one or both directions as well as triggering only when the object is moving faster than a defined speed threshold.
✔Essential ✔Enterprise
Detects vehicles and motorcycles stopped in the rule zone for at least the defined amount of time.
✔Essential ✔Enterprise
Detect up to 10 people in a rule zone. This rule triggers an alarm if a set number of people are present in the rule zone for a defined length of time (dwell time). These people need not be close to one another, but all should be within the rule region of interest simultaneously.
✔Essential ✔Enterprise
Detects a configurable number of people close to each other in a predefined area for longer than a set period of time
✔Enterprise
Detects unattended objects in a rule zone. This rule triggers an alarm if one of the defined object classes is left unattended for a set period of time.
✔Enterprise
Detects changes in protected asset zones. IRIS+™ asset protection allows for the monitoring of protected assets in scenes. This rule triggers alarms when the asset is moved, blocked, vandalized, or otherwise changed from its original state, as defined in the rule asset zone.
✔Enterprise
Detects traffic traveling against the normal flow of traffic. IRIS+™ Counterflow traffic triggers alarms when a vehicle is detected crossing a line against the normal flow of traffic.
✔Enterprise
Detection of smoke and fires using ordinary color cameras Smoke and fire detection will detect flames or smoke visible in the view of the camera, based on a combination of techniques. It requires the use of an optical color camera, and will not work using grayscale or thermal video streams.
✔Enterprise
Detects persons falling to the ground indoors due to injuries, accidents or fights
IRIS+™ Slip & fall detection is built for a wide range of applications, ranging from safety and security to e-health. Typical application includes detecting accidents or injuries in a workplace setting or making sure employees get safely off the property after their shift ends. Applications also include unmanned stores and healthcare supervision of the elderly, often in a domestic setting.
✔Enterprise
Detects people and objects on railway tracks (also in busy station environments)
IRIS+™ Rail trespassing detection is a specialized algorithm to solve a very specific problem in the best way possible. It will, in real-time, keep track of passengers, trains, and other objects and instantly trigger an alarm when someone or something enters or falls on the tracks. It is built to handle crowded environments and will work equally well in a rush-hour city platform as on a country-side railway platform.
✔Enterprise
Protects integrity by de-identifying people in live and recorded video
IRIS+™ Anonymization can complement any other IRIS+ algorithm and will securely anonymize any person in view of the camera, indoors and outdoors. It is built using Irisity’s unique, patented technology, and combines motion- and image-based human recognition techniques to make sure no person can be identified in the camera view. It offers multiple methods of de-identification including adaptive pixelization, blurring, and white masking.

IRIS+™ delivers highly accurate real-time event detections for anomalous events and patterns, bringing an operator’s attention to unexpected behaviors and trends that would otherwise go unnoticed. The Anomaly Detection capability identifies events/objects without manual rule configuration or pre-definition and alerts the operator to such events in real-time. IRIS+’s Anomaly Detection algorithm continually learns the distinct characteristics of each scene for particular times of day/days of the week etc. Once the initial learning period is complete, IRIS+™ alerts for different behaviors/incidents/trends that do not match the typical behavior/traffic for that time/day. Recognizing that not all anomalous events will interest the user, the user provides feedback to IRIS+™ that defines what is of interest (and what is not), thereby fine-tuning future Anomaly Detection results.
Types of objects that will generate events / can be user-defined for alerts:
- Person
- Vehicle
- Two-wheel vehicle
Detection Sensitivity: The user can define a daily/weekly event rate per camera.
Object behaviors that anomaly detection can pick up:
- A person\vehicle present in an area at a day and time when people are not normally observed in that area
- A vehicle parking for an abnormal length of time for the location and day, time
- An abnormal grouping of people in terms of count, location, duration, day, time
- A vehicle driving in an abnormal path in terms of position, direction, day, time
Anomaly detection will NOT be able to reliably detect behaviors and objects that are not part of its built-in known objects and behaviors. Some examples of occurrences that anomaly detection will NOT reliably pick up:
- People fighting
- An elephant walking in the middle of the street
- A tree fell and blocked the road

IRIS+™ continuously processes streaming video to metadata. When carrying out forensic searches, this metadata is searched. This results in almost instant searching across multiple cameras and long time periods.
When searching, one or more of the following target types can be selected:
- Person
- Two-wheeled vehicle: Motorcycle, Bicycle
- Four-wheeled vehicle: Car, Bus, Van, Truck
- General objects: Suitcases, bags, briefcases, boxes
For each search, select the behavior you are looking for:
- Motion, loitering, occupancy, and grouping
- Line crossing
- Stopped vehicle
- Unattended object
Not all rule and behavior types can be combined with every object type.
For each object type, you can optionally filter the results using extra attributes. These filters differ by rule and object type and include:
- Color
- Dwell time
- Distance
- Grouping and with number of people in the group
The search results can be shown on a map with the exact position of the object.
Presents graphs showing count results, obtained after performing a search, per camera and/ or per time period.
Search queries can be saved for future use using the "My queries" functionality.
Search results can be added to case files to build a case of the incident being investigated.
