An appliance or virtual appliance, running Irisity’s video analytics pipeline. Connects to any ONVIF/RTSP-supporting IP camera, multiple cameras can be connected to each IRIS+ Edge. IRIS+ Edge processes the video locally and communicates with IRIS+ Core.

# Different types of Edge devices

Irisity Central Monitoring offers 3 types of Edge devices. These three edge devices have their subsets of requirements. Please read below to learn more:

## Irisity Edge 10

A pre-configured appliance that is typically co-deployed with a camera system at the surveillance site and can handle 5-21 video streams per device, depending on the stream profile.

## IRIS+™ Edge for AXIS

This IRIS+™ Edge version runs inside Axis's latest fixed cameras as an ACAP-embedded application. It connects to the IRIS+ Cloud, connecting cameras with the ARTPEC-7 and ARTPEC-8 chipsets.

## Custom Edge

Allows you to run IRIS+™ Edge analytics pipeline on your hardware, and is deployed either on-site or in a centralized location.

## Edge via Virtual Machine

The IRIS+ Edge can be deployed on a VM. The supported camera count may be reduced. If you are looking for a VM solution to be part of your IRIS+ setup, please contact pre-sales to learn how you can set this up.

# Comparing Edge devices

Each Edge device can support up to a certain count of cameras, operating within reasonable settings. Please check below to learn more about camera usage across all Edge devices

### Supported streaming profiles

Below are the acceptable streaming profiles supported

- H.264 @ 720p @ 8FPS
- H.264 @ 1080P @ 15 FPS
- H.264 @ 1080P @ 30 FPS
- H.265 @ 720P @ 8 FPS
- H.265 @ 1080P @ 15 FPS
- H.265 @ 1080P @ 30 FPS

If you use any other streaming profile, set a secondary streaming profile with one of the options above.

# Other considerations

- The IRIS+ Edge server should not host other non-IRIS+ applications
- Cameras connected to IRIS+ Edge must have static IP addresses (dynamic IP allocation may result in camera disconnections)

# Server Requirements

The IRIS+™ Edge enables IRIS+ software deployment on a customer’s hardware to connect ONVIF / RTSP fixed IP cameras from the camera’s network to a centralized IRIS+ Core. One or multiple IRIS+ Edge Devices (IRIS+ Edge, IRIS+ Edge 10, or a mix of both) process the video stream, transforming it into Irisity’s proprietary metadata and sending it to an IRIS+ Core, which will then perform all central management and advanced analysis.

**Contact Irisity's Presales at **[psteam@irisity.com](mailto\:psteam@irisity.com)** to receive a customized hardware specification matching your specific deployment needs.**

# Scene activity level

There are 3 types of activity levels that IRIS+ classifies:

- Low
- Medium
- High

See Appendix A for scene activity-level examples

We recommend reviewing the differences in scene activities below based on the two Edge 10 versions available today:
